Temple’s Community Garden enables us to fulfill the mitzvah of feeding the hungry by growing nutritious produce for our Vickery Meadow Food Pantry. The garden is open to all who want to garden (no experience necessary). Volunteer opportunities are plentiful: garden, weed, harvest produce and manual labor on work days. Heart House is a free after-school program for at-risk children. Most of these children speak English as their second language. Meals on Wheels MEALS ON WHEELS
MOW provides home delivered meals to those who, due to illness, advanced age, or disability are unable to provide proper meals for themselves. This is a great, flexible project for people of all ages: families with young children, teens needing community service hours, bar/bat mitzvah projects, etc. For questions contact Peggy Millheiser at 214-616-9720 or If you would like to participate but need reimbursement for gas money, financial assistance is available and confidential.

Pebbles is an apartment complex that houses single women and women with children who have been placed in this permanent housing after being homeless. Volunteers will search for needed household items to help them feel comfortable in their new homes. There is no requirement to purchase items - gently used household items are welcome. Their center has residential programs, and one nonresidential program that provides food pantry and financial assistance. You can help by serving meals, providing group activities for the children/families in the residential programs such as birthday parties or arts & crafts activities, facilitating life skills classes or computer literacy classes. Serve dinner to homeless men and women at The Bridge. The time commitment is 5:30-7PM and our regular workdays are the 1st, 4th, and 5th Sundays of the month
